WIAA Announcement About Additional Season Changes for Sports in 2020-21
Hello Viking families,

Recently the Washington Interscholastic Activities Association announced another addition to the modified schedule for the upcoming school year. Leagues were given a choice to make the original season one sports a season three sport. The athletic directors from the KingCo conference met and agreed that this would be best for our communities to move the season one sports to season three. The KingCo conference appealed to the WIAA to make this move and we were approved. Please see the changes below as they will impact family schedules.

These dates are very different and will affect many sports differently than what we have experienced in the past. For example, there will be two holidays that the teams will need to practice through; Mid-winter break February 15-19 for season 2 and Spring break April 12-16 for season 3. Season 4 will go until June 27 which will be a challenge around graduation activities.

Spring break and season 3 will be the biggest difference for the sports in this season as we will have practices and regular season games during this time. Depending on the sport there may be post season play also to allow time to qualify for state events.

There are still many details that need to be worked out in regard to these activities and how they can be implemented in each county and for each district. However, it is important for us to get these dates out to you so you can start to plan as a Family on what activities you will be looking to participate in. As we get more information, we will share it with our communities to help you better prepare for the 2020-21 school year. Please encourage your students to sign their forms in Final Forms after parents have assigned their student to a sport and completed the parent forms.

Hope your families are all healthy and safe! Please visit the IHS Athletics Page for Information.
