What does this course offer the students?

Event Management is a unique body of knowledge that focuses on the public assembly of individuals for the purpose of ... Celebration, Education, Marketing, Reunion. This course focuses on  global event industry standards, project management techniques, and the related technology skills to create event experiences based on the clients' goals and objectives.

Enrolled students, receiving a minimum of 85% grade (B) , can earn:

  • Vocational Education credit (state graduation requirement).
  • Business English credit (meets state requirements for one of four years of English for graduation).
  • 12 transferable college credits

    Microsoft Word Certification and/or Microsoft PowerPoint Certification

Enrolled students have numerous opportunities to design and produce actual events for schools and the community, ranging from homecoming dances and marketing/media design work to designing and/or producing award luncheons and non-profit fundraisers and event industry association meetings.. The produced events occur on school campuses, performing arts centers, golf clubs, specialized event venues, convention centers, and hotels.

Event planning theory and protocols are introduced and examined. Students also study current industry trends and practices.

Enrolled juniors and seniors have opportunities to utilize their learning, plus to custom design and to produce real events based on client's goals and needs.  

Case studies, guests speakers and innovative projects will round out the event planning part of the course.
